Options Activity#137: Tue 12/1/2009 One of the stocks we picked upon Monday made our list again on Tuesday. Put action is again high in this name. ~more~ #136: Mon 11/30/2009 Starting today, we will move to a new format where at the end of the day we will run through interesting options outliers in the energy/materials space. Helmerich & Payne (HP) traded 24,110 options against an average of 1127 so the % rise was 2039%. Both calls and puts were fairly even at 12,135 calls to 11,975 puts. The stock is stuck in a range so this could be a good spread trade and probably what happened today. ~more~ #135: Mon 10/19/2009 These plays could be interesting as new plays on the long side. (CAM) that traded 7,140 calls and only 427 puts with no major news to report. ~more~ #049: Thu 6/12/2008 Today we see 3 significant companies with unusual activity. The first one we look at is Parallel Pete Corp. (PLLL) has only 421 calls however there are no puts; there is no news to back this up. The second is CHENIERE ENERGY INC (LNG) has 27,359 calls and only 1,606 puts and no news to follow. The final company would be Frontier Oil Corp. (FTO) which have 29,797 calls vs. a low 2,682 puts and once again, no news; the last news was yesterday about crude oil stockpiles falling to a low supply. ~more~ #048: Wed 6/11/2008 We only see Titanium Metals Corp. experiencing unusual activity today with 2,597 calls and only 609 puts with no news. ~more~ #047: Tue 6/10/2008 MEOH (Methanex Corp.) 4,570 calls vs. 100 puts with no news and average volume has grown to 1088%. GW (Grey Wolf, Inc.) 5,997 calls vs 381 puts as Precision Drilling plans to buyout GW. ~more~ #046: Mon 6/9/2008 Titanium Metals Corp. (TIE) Saw unusual options activity with 14,364 calls with only 525 puts. Rumors of a buyout are dispersing throughout the internet. ~more~ #045: Thu 6/5/2008 Global Industries (GLBL) sees unusual options activity as 1,434 calls traded against put activity of 564. The average volume is 608 options and 1,908 have traded today. ~more~ #044: Wed 6/4/2008 Ashland (ASH) has traded 6,395 calls against 1,276 puts and the overall options volume is up 1240%. On Tuesday, we saw WH Energy (WHQ) move up $7.68 or 8.97% as Smith International (SII) made a bid for the company. On Monday, WHQ appeared on our screen with unusual call activity and voila a day later a bid emerges.
